3/5/15 - Ideal Gas Law Cont.and Work

We started by looking at a graph of water being heated up and the predicted what would change the slope of the graph.

Here we derived the relationship between work and pressure. By substituting a formula for pressure into the standard work equation,

Our makeshift piston when the air inside heats up. The beaker is outside and at room temperature.

The beaker is submerged in hot water. Professor Mason gives the piston a midge to get it going.

The piston expanded fully due to the heated air.

The first law of thermodynamics, written in 7-yr old language.

Examples of then heat added and work are equal to zero.

Standard problem involving thermal expansion.

Calculating the average velocity of a gas atom in a cubic space.

Derivation of a formula for pressure based on velocity.

The same formula except based on kinetic energy and a formula relating energy to temperature too.

The top has standard formula for relating two states of an Isotermal process and the bottom has the adiabatic work formula.

Professor Mason's derivation of the adiabatic work formula.

A formula for adiabatic compression of gas.

Calculations for the fire syringe. We don't have a video due to the person who took the video never sending it out.
